We hope you'll find answers for today and hope for tomorrow at Loving Shepherd Church!
I feel privileged to share in ministry here in this friendly, international community of faith, with activities for young and old, families and singles, apartment dwellers and area homeowners.
Loving Shepherd is open to all persons, and I invite you to share in ministries of meaningful worship, friendly caring, and outreach to the community and the world. We want to help you grow in faith, and welcome your help in our following after Jesus Christ.
I hope you'll find that God is good, and Jesus Christ is alive in our midst - even in difficult times. We hope you'll grow with us, and find caring friends here at Loving Shepherd. It's an exciting, challenging time to be alive! Please feel free to call our church (703) 892-5185, to browse our website, or seek help from our pastoral or church staff.
If you've watched U.S. TV over many decades, you probably noticed- families have changed! The model of one (male) breadwinner, (female) nurturer/household manager, and 2 kids isn't that common any longer. Now, jobs at home are shared by both sexes, there may be dialogue between the 'ex'-es, and life can be "complicated."
As we read the Bible, we find even centuries ago, there were family successes, along with sorrows and secrets ("family matters"). People struggled to make their families "good" families, just like today-and there are lessons we learn from families even in different times. Among the lessons is the idea that "family matters." This Sunday, we begin a 2-week series based on the book of Ruth and other scriptures, showing that "family matters." Read Ruth, ch. 1 this week, and let's talk about it Sunday.
Thought questions: What is a"family?" Is it true that "family" matters? If so, how do we show that in our living? And what does God have to say about that?
